Brad Cornelsen, new head football coach and assistant athletic director

After a thorough search, Enid Public Schools has selected Brad Cornelsen as the next head football coach for the Enid High School Plainsmen.

He will also serve as the Assistant Athletic Director alongside Athletic Director, Scott Mansfield.

His duties will begin immediately.

“We are very excited to get Coach Cornelsen on campus as soon as possible and for him to begin working with our students and coaches,” said Dr. Dudley Darrow, superintendent. “Having grown up in Texhoma, Oklahoma, and all of his football coaching experience the past 20+ years, makes Coach Cornelsen a perfect fit for our next EHS head football coach. I am really excited for our EHS football program, and most importantly our students.”

Cornelsen began his coaching career in 1999 at Missouri Southern State University and after brief stops at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College, Northwest Missouri State, Oklahoma State University, and Illinois State University he became the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Northeastern State University in 2009. He went on to serve as the quarterback coach and co-offensive coordinator at Memphis in 2012, and the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Virginia Tech in 2016. Since then, he was the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Sam Houston in Texas with the 2024 season being his last.

“I’m honored to become the head football coach at Enid High School,” said Cornelsen. “Thank you to Dr. Darrow, the administration, and the school board, for giving me this opportunity. My family and I are excited to be here and to be a part of this community. I’m anxious to begin the process of building a program based on discipline and teamwork, and I’m looking forward to building those relationships at Enid Public Schools.”

He earned his Bachelors of Science in Education at Missouri Southern State University and is married to Jaimi. They have two children, Wyatt and Wynn.
